Blauhilde is a climbing French bean with striking purple pods. The pods grow up to 25 cm long, are slightly curved, and stringless. When cooked, they turn green. The plant reaches a height of 2–3 meters and requires support. It has beautiful purple flowers and is a high-yielding, disease-resistant variety.- Sowing: Direct sow outdoors after the last frost (May–June) or start indoors in April.
- Location: Prefers a sunny, sheltered spot with nutrient-rich, well-drained soil.
- Support: As a climbing variety, it needs stakes, trellises, or netting.
- Watering & Care: Keep soil moist but avoid excessive water to prevent mold. Regular weeding is needed.
- Harvesting: Ready for picking 10–12 weeks after sowing when pods are tender and young.
