The ultimate variety for giant pumpkin contests holding the world record at 1689lb. Atlantic Giant is a variety of giant pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) known for its exceptionally large fruits. Under optimal conditions, the fruits can grow over 400 kg, with record-breaking pumpkins exceeding 1000 kg.This variety requires a warm, sunny growing location and nutrient-rich soil. Regular watering and fertilization are essential to achieve maximum growth. Atlantic Giant pumpkins are primarily grown for competitions, but they can also be used for food, such as purees, soups, and baked goods.
It requires plenty of space and a warm long summer to reach its full potential, but with care produces exceptional sized pumpkins. Realistically with average care and a good summer, fruit of 200-300 lbs are achievable in the UK. (They are also of excellent texture and flavour). Mature in around 125 days from germination.
