The 'Mato' tomato is an Estonian-bred determinate (low-growing) and early-maturing variety, suitable for cultivation in open fields or under film covers. The plants produce compact clusters, each bearing 6–10 bright red, flat-round fruits weighing approximately 95–100 grams. 'Mato' is resistant to brown spot (Cladosporium) and offers good shelf life and transport tolerance. The time from germination to the ripening of the first fruits is about 110–120 days. Seeds should be sown between February and April, with a pre-cultivation period of 35–40 days. Recommended plant spacing is 50–100 cm, with row spacing of 40×75 cm.

In addition to its suitability for open field and film tunnel cultivation, 'Mato' is also well-suited for container gardening due to its compact size, making it an excellent choice for small spaces or urban gardens.
